JLG Industries Inc. recently sponsored a weeklong engineering course at Hagerstown Community College for girls entering grades six through eight.
With a gift of $2,310, JLG covered the tuition for the 14 girls who participated in the class titled “Girls Exploring Engineering.”
They participated in hands-on projects and heard from expert guest speakers.
Four female engineers from JLG who visited the class were Joan LaSalle, senior chief engineer; April Tran, senior engineer; Cathy Martin, design engineer and HCC alumna; and Megan Schultz, design engineer.
“Girls Exploring Engineering” is offered each summer as part of HCC’s College for Kids program.
