The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office said it was searching for the person who set fire to the interior of a stolen car Monday night in the 14300 block of Hixon Road near Hancock.
The fire, which was reported at 9:30 p.m. by a neighbor, caused $5,000 in damages to a 2002 Dodge Intrepid, according to a news release from the fire marshal’s office.
Authorities said the Dodge was stolen in Cumberland, Md.
It took 12 firefighters from Hancock and Orleans about 10 minutes to get the fire under control, according to the release.
