Elsie E. Spangler, 94, of Plantation Drive, Hagerstown, Md., passed away Monday, May 27, 2013, at her home.
Born June 24, 1918, in Waynesboro, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Lewis H. and Edith E. (Rice) Duffey.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, William M. Spangler Sr., Sept. 18, 2011.
She was a seamstress and homemaker.
She was a member of Willow Brook Seventh-day Adventist Church of Boonsboro, Md.
She was an avid quilter, making quilts for every family member and also volunteered and made quilts for ACTS9 of Hagerstown.
She is survived by daughters, Patricia A. Millard of Missouri, Beverly A. Grenci and Lois A. Burnett, both of Maryland, Virginia M. Campbell of Virginia and Ramona Bibi of Michigan; sons, Lynnwood P. Spangler of Texas and Kim E. Spangler of Florida; brother, Harold Duffey of Pennsylvania; 30 grandchildren; 68 great-grandchildren; 26 great-great-grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.
She was preceded in death by son, William M. Spangler Jr.; sister, Beulah Patterson; and brothers, Paul Duffey and James Duffey.
Services will be Thursday, May 30, 2013, at 2 p.m. at J.L. Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg, Md., with Pastor Tim Crosby officiating. Burial will be in Smithsburg Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
