The Washington County Sheriff’s Office said it was looking for two men who forced their way into a home at gunpoint Tuesday night.
Deputies received a call at 11:22 p.m. for a report of a home invasion in the 18700 block of Mesa Terrace north of Hagerstown, according to a sheriff’s office news release.
The victim told deputies that two men forced their way into the home after he answered a knock at the door.
The men assaulted the victim by striking him on the body and head with the handle of a handgun.
Police said the men went to the rear of the house where they encountered two more residents. One of the men pointed a handgun at the occupants as the other took property, according to the release.
Deputies said the robbers made off with an undisclosed amount of cash and a safe.
The victim who was struck with the gun was taken to Meritus Medical Center east of Hagerstown to be treated for non life-threatening injuries.
