The community is invited to attend Day of Hope on Saturday, May 18, from noon to 4 p.m. at Wheaton Park to celebrate the History of Our Neighborhood with special historical tributes and a contest to win “Mr. Andy’s Money $$$.”
The event will include free health screenings and free community services.
The Healthy Smiles in Motion mobile dental unit will be on site.
Attendees will be able to look over information and browse through a yard sale and flea market. Attendees can even bring items to sell.
In addition, there will be free food and food to buy. There will be music and other entertainment.
The event is sponsored by the City of Hagerstown’s Neighborhood 1st — Medal of Honor Group and in part by the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene — Minority Outreach and Technical Assistance program with the participation and support of local organizations, agencies and businesses.
In case of inclement weather, the event will be held at the Martin Luther King Jr. Center.
Fashion and talent show
The For Our Kids’ Sake bus trip program will hold a fashion and talent show Sunday, June 2, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the MLK Center, 131 W. North Ave.
Tickets cost $3 for adults and $1 for school-aged children. Light refreshments will be served.
The event is being co-hosted by the Memorial Recreation Center.

The Storytelling Writing Circle with Faith Crumbly will be held Thursday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Memorial Recreation Center, 109 North Ave.
Memorial Recreation Center will host a chicken and fish dinner Friday, May 17, from 3 to 7 p.m.
The dinner costs $7.50.
