Cyril Gordon Whitesides, 87, of Hagerstown, Md., died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at Fahrney-Keedy Home and Village in Boonsboro, Md.
Born Aug. 17, 1925, in Moline, Ill., he was the son of the late Cyril J. and Eva A. Gordon Whitesides.
Cyril was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of the Hagerstown Seventh-day Adventist Church, where he was a deacon.
He retired in 1989 from the Review & Herald Publishing Association.
Cyril loved to golf and work on cars.
He is survived by four daughters, Christine Mackey and husband, Paul, of Hagerstown, Vivien Jenkin and husband, Gerald, of Bremerton, Wash., Jeanne Bursott of Clinton, Iowa, and Sharon Charnoski and husband, Gary, of Clinton; two sons, Cyril Whitesides Jr. and wife, Linda, of Jefferson, Pa., and Steven Whitesides and wife, Anita, of Hagerstown; one sister, Beverly Vickroy of Sherrard, Ill.; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Rodney Whitesides.
Services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
There will be no viewing.
