Confederate group to celebrate charter

Sons of Confederate Veterans, Battle of Sharpsburg Camp No. 1582, will celebrate their chapter charter with a dinner Saturday, July 6, at 6 p.m. in the party room of Hempen Hill BBQ in Fountain Head Plaza.

BHS Class of '77 to hold dinner party

The Boonsboro High Class of '77 will hold a dinner party at Barefoot Bernie’s Bar & Grill on Dual Highway on Saturday, June 29 at 6 p.m. RSVP to Terri Hollingshead at 301-491-2024 or email ptholling@myactv.net.

Picking blueberries for school bands

Jennifer and Dan Mills, owners of the Frog Eye Blueberry Farm in Pleasant Valley, will hold a unique “Pick your own blueberries” fundraiser to benefit the Boonsboro High and Middle School bands Sunday from 8 a.m. to noon at the farm. Pickers will be charged $3 per pound, with $1 per pound donated to the band programs when patrons indicate they support the Boonsboro bands. Patrons are encouraged to bring their own containers for this rain or shine event.

Car club to hold cruise-in at county ag center

The Mason-Dixon Region Antique Automobile Club of America will hold a Cruise In/Car Show, including a car corral and flea market Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Washington County Ag Center. All items are welcome. Look for Model T driving demonstrations, food and a bake sale. Dash plaques will be given to the first 75 vehicles registered. Donation/registration is $8 per vehicle and $8 per car corral at the gate.

First Church of God to hold Bible school

The Burnside First Church of God at 3904 Mills Road in Sharpsburg will hold a vacation Bible school for ages 2 and older July 7 to 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. each day. The theme is “Investigation Destination,” a search for clues to the King of Kings. Students will portray secret agents, investigators on a special mission. Each night will feature songs, crafts, snacks, learning and fun. All are welcome. Call 301-432-2408 with questions.

Community remembers Bucky, the pet deer

Members of the Sharpsburg community will remember their pet deer, Bucky, with a 2 p.m. memorial service on June 30 at the Sharpsburg ballfield. Thirty trees and a memorial have been placed at the park where Bucky was a frequent visitor. The public is invited to the service.

Kavanaugh to speak at senior center
Ita Kavanaugh will present a program on “Senior Safety Issues” on Monday at 10 a.m. at the senior center in Keedysville. Manager Martha Drennen will talk on the topic “Liven Up Your Meals with Fruits & Vegetables” on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. Marcia Davies will conduct exercises Friday. Vacation Bible school planned this month

Sharpsburg Bible Church will hold its vacation Bible school from June 24-28 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. each night.

The closing program will be Sunday, June 30, at 6 p.m.

Farm to Fork to support FFA, 4-H groups

LJ’s and the Kat Lounge at 1130 Conrad Court in Hagerstown will host a “Farm to Fork — the Future Faces of Agriculture” on Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. The dinner menu will feature all local ingredients, including beef, lamb, goat, artisan cheeses and fruits and vegetables.

Future Farmers of America and 4-H Club members will be on hand to discuss the importance of local, sustainable food products and to share information on farming and agriculture. Tickets must be purchased in advance at $25 per person. Proceeds from the event will support FFA and 4-H efforts in Washington County.
