Charles Johnny Givens, age 78, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011, at Morgan County War Memorial Hospital.
Charles attended the University of Maryland at College Park and retired as a crane operator from Kaiser Aluminum. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was of the Protestant faith. Mr. Givens was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 1483, Alderton-Dawson American Legion Post No. 60 and the Risinger-Stotler V.F.W. Post No. 4019.
Charles is survived by one daughter, Joni Marie Givens, Purcellville, Va.; two sisters, T. Ruth Cooper and Mary E. Howes, both of Baltimore, Md.; one brother, Raymond T. Givens, Hancock, Md.; and several grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Louise Mary Givens; and one brother, James Franklin Givens Jr.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011, at 1 p.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union St., Berkeley Springs, WV 25411, with the Rev. Daniel Montague III officiating. Burial with military graveside rites will be Thursday, Feb. 3, 2011, at 1 p.m. at Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery, Owings Mills, Md.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m.
