Vendors and exhibitors are sought for the Canal- Apple Days Festival set to be held the weekend of Sept. 21 and 22.

Back-to-school night planned Monday
Back-to-school night will take place Monday at 6 p.m. in the Hancock Middle-Senior High School auditorium.
On Tuesday, the girls volleyball team hosts a scrimmage game against McConnellsburg (Pa.) High School. Starting times are 5:30 p.m. for jayvee and 6:30 p.m. for varsity.
School fundraisers available online
Participants can register a Martin’s and/or Food Lion card and a portion of purchases will go back to the school.
The media center has been newly organized for 2013-14. It has a a greater collection of books, as well as computers for student use. Students can find resources at www.youseemore.com/wcps/readyref.asp.
My Big Campus is a wonderful tool for helping students write and communicate with other students and their teachers. The school uses My Big Campus in first through fifth grades to have students post writings, answer discussion questions and create blogs.
If you visit the school, check out the media center, which has been remodeled with separate sections for the “Everybody” section (picture books), fiction, nonfiction, reference and biographies.
Many new books will arrive within the next few months.
The media center always needs volunteers to help with shelving books or straightening the shelves.
Church concert planned Sunday
Hancock Assembly of God will host a free concert Sunday at 7 p.m. The program will feature singers and musicians from the local congregation. The community is invited. The church is at 431 N. Pennsylvania Ave.
