  • Washington QB Griffin back at practice

Washington QB Griffin back at practice
Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III returned to the practice field for the first time since dislocating his left ankle in Week 2 and looked "fine" while handling a limited workload, coach Jay Gruden said. The coach said that once the third-year pro fully heals and shows an ability to practice at a high level, Griffin will recapture his job as starting quarterback, though he does not know when that will be. Griffin took part in individual drills and threw to wide receivers, running backs and tight ends during one-on-one drills. Gruden said Griffin will continue to handle a similar workload until the team's medical staff recommends an increase in activity. "He looked fine. Had a little bounce in his step, but that's about it. Nothing new," Gruden said. "Everything else will be up to the trainers and the doctor. There's nothing I can do as far as rushing him back. They're going to let me know when they will allow him to progress into the team drills. We're going to take what [trainer] Larry [Hess] and the team doctors tell us and go from there."
