Taking an interest in hospital work while working as a medical supply officer in the Vietnam-era Army, Frank V. Sacco returned to civilian life and took a job in the housekeeping department of Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood. Just 13 years later, Sacco became the hospital's chief operating officer. Under his helm, the hospital grew into the nation's third-largest public health care system. Sacco on Monday announced his retirement as president and CEO of Memorial Healthcare System, effective Feb. 29.
