Dr. Chad Whelan has been promoted to president of Loyola University Medical Center after serving as Loyola's senior vice president and chief medical officer.
Whelan will lead the 547-bed hospital in Maywood, which includes a heart and vascular medicine center, a Level I trauma center, a burn center, a cancer center, a children's hospital and an outpatient center.
Whelan worked at Loyola as an associate professor of medicine from 2009 to 2011 and then spent a few years at the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he worked as associate chief medical officer for performance improvement and innovation. He returned to Loyola in 2015.
