When Marina Kolovos uprooted her life from Greece to Chicago in the late 1970s, she barely spoke English – and as a result, has almost exclusively seen Greek-speaking doctors ever since.
"You can better explain 'it hurts here' or 'it hurts there,'" said Kolovos, a Palos Hills resident who still has a thick Greek accent and prefers her native tongue. "I can give more detail in Greek. Right now I speak a little more English. I can read better, but I cannot spell."
Kolovos said she has been seeing Dr. Georgios Karanastasis at Tinley Park's Zmedi Group family practice for a year and a half.
