Reynolds Fine Art, 96 Orange St. in New Haven, presents “View of the Past: Anna Held Audette,” from Friday, Feb. 1, to Wednesday, April 3. An artist reception will be Feb. 1 from 5 to 8 p.m.
In paintings, prints and drawings, Audette focused on abandoned factories, ships, bridges and the dilapidated space launch site in Florida. A statement from Reynolds calls her work “an exploration of the speed and effect of decay on modern industrial powers.
“The relics remind us that, in our rapidly changing world, the triumphs of technology are just a moment away from obsolescence. Yet these remains of collapsed power have a strength, grace and sadness that is both eloquent and impenetrable.”
Gallery hours are Tuesday to Thursday noon to 5 p.m. and Friday and Saturday noon to 6 p.m.
