The Republicans from 2008 to whenever will go down in history as the worst crop of politicians in the party’s history and will be blamed for the ultimate demise of the GOP. They’ve been labeled as “obstructionist,” which is appropriate because they not only try to block everything Obama does, they can’t get out of their own way either. Except when they want to shut down the government, which, come to think of it, is a form of obstructionism too.
The Republicans have had a good run, 170 years or so. How many of the world's political parties have lasted that long? Unfortunately, the GOP has been taken over by the tea party, which critics say is nothing more than a band of racists, homophobes and religious extremists. They are determined to gerrymander minorities, moderates and liberals out of their conservative districts. They’re trying desperately to stop gay marriage, throw 11 million undocumented aliens in jail and end a woman’s right to control her own body. Instead of helping to bring more people into the American dream and work out some compromises, they’ve conspired to keep certain people out and not give an inch on anything.
I think the Republicans are trying to get even with we the peeps, the mainstream media and the Democrats for our daily gleeful trouncing of the worst president in American history, their darling, George W. Bush, painter of dogs. Well, as they say in France, bon chance!
