And the lively prose of Dan Ruede is below ...

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Junior lefthander Sean Newcomb (Middleboro, Mass.) collected the third America East weekly accolade of his career on Tuesday when he was named the Pitcher of the Week after throwing five scoreless innings in the season opener against Georgetown.

Newcomb gave up three hits and struck out nine batters, three shy of his career best. The junior lefty did not allow a runner past second base facing 20 total batters in a no-decision appearance.

Newcomb and the Hawks return to the diamond for a three-game series against George Mason with single games starting on Friday, February 28. All three games will be played at Shupler Field in Fairfax, Va. The series opener of Friday is scheduled for a 2:30 p.m. first pitch.
