The event is held in recognition of the Atheneum's purchase in 2002 of a painting from the town of Simsbury. This is it, John Kensett's "Niagara Falls." As thanks, the museum offers a free day to Simsbury residents every year until 2015.
Residents must show proof of residency.
The exhibits on display now are “Burst of Light: Caravaggio and His Legacy," which will close the following day, Deb Sokolow / MATRIX 166, and Bill Viola’s "Ascension."
