The Greater Hartford Arts Council kicks off Aetna Arts Week on Sunday, Nov. 11. The rest of the week, through Saturday, Nov. 17, features free and low-cost arts activities hosted by local organizations.
Local artist Anne Cubberly will lead an art project to create lanterns made out of recyclable materials. The lanterns mde in the workshops will be installed outside of Connecticut’s Old State House to create a “lighted walkway” down Main Street in an unveiling ceremony on Thursday, Nov. 15.
Here is the schedule of the leading events:
Sunday Nov. 11, noon: Lantern-making workshop on Pratt Street
Monday Nov. 12, 4 p.m.: Happy hour and Play-Doh art contest at City Steam Brewery and Café
Tuesday Nov. 13, noon: “Cookies with the Techies,” a behind-the-scenes tour, Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts
Wednesday Nov. 14, 11 a.m. : Lantern-making workshop at Connecticut’s Old State House
Thursday Nov. 15, 1 p.m.: Exhibition tour of “Medieval to Monet” at Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art (This 13th century artwork is from that show.)
Thursday Nov. 15, 4:30 p.m.: Lantern-lighting ceremony at Connecticut’s Old State House
Friday Nov. 16, noon: “Venus in Fur” director and cast lunchtime talk at TheaterWorks Hartford
