Rodner Figueroa, Univision’s main “fashonista,” and four others will host the award’s preshow and red carpet, which is considered one of the most anticipated components of the show.
“I love Premios Juventud. Since there are no guidelines, it gives me so much material to talk about,” Rodner Figueroa said.
In honor of the show’s 10th anniversary, it will be beach-bash-themed, and celebrities from Pitbull to Shakira will be expected to wear the hottest summer fashion.
“The show allows for a broad spectrum of clothes. It’s really anybody’s game,” Rodner Figueroa said.
Celebrities have been nominated in movie, music, sports, television series and pop culture categories, which add diversity to the young people's awards and to the fashion.
With such variety, the fashionista said he adjusts his critiques according to what genre of celebrity he is dealing with.
“I don’t expect one of the sport players to come in a suit,” Rodner Figueroa said.
The fashion guru views his criticism as a helpful tool for Latino icons to use constructively to improve their fashion and reflect the Latinos in the highest light.
“I feel that we must invest in our star’s [fashion], in order to elevate our Hispanic community.”
