About 20 people attended the public hearing by the district's Commission on Education Excellence Through Integrity, Public Ethics and Transparency, held at Coconut Creek High School. The committee was created after the Sept. 23 arrest of former board member Beverly Gallagher on federal corruption charges and board member Stephanie Kraft's disclosure that her husband's business had ties to School Board lobbyist Neil Sterling.
The three panelists are former Florida Attorney General Bob Butterworth, Fort Lauderdale Mayor Jack Seiler and Fort Lauderdale attorney W. George Allen.
Monday's hearing was the second of three public hearings; a third is scheduled for March 15, at a location to be announced. For information, go to http://www.browardschoolsintegrity.org.
