CANTON — Town officials are making their second attempt to find a private partner for a hydropower project that would use existing dams on the Farmington River.
Selectmen authorized a contract last week with an attorney who will prepare a request for proposals and then review the submissions. The Virginia-based attorney, Paul Nolan, will be paid $7,300 for the work, according to town documents.
The hope is to use the dam in Collinsville on the Farmington River to generate hydropower. Another dam further downstream in Avon and Burlington may also be included, but people familiar with the project say its condition could make that difficult.
