    New Riders of the Purple Sage In Fairfield
    At the end of the 1960s, San Francisco's New Riders of the Purple Sage formed somewhere at the nexus of psychedelic rock and Bakersfield country. A fluid, early lineup overlapped with the Grateful Dead — Jerry Garcia, Mickey Hart, Phil Lesh, Bill Kreutzmann and Donna Jean Godchaux all recorded and performed with NRPS at some point — and now, only David Nelson still performs with NRPS. But except for a brief period in the early 2000s, NRPS has rolled on, behind signature hits "Panama Red" and "Lonesome L.A. Cowboy," all these years. They'll be at Fairfield Theatre Company's StageOne on Sunday.
