  1. "Wreck-It Ralph": A Mommy Minute Movie Review

A recent review in People Magazine called "<a href="http://disney.go.com/wreck-it-ralph/" target="_blank">Wreck-It Ralph</a>" a "Toy Story" for the video game set and, boy, that assessment is right on. &nbsp; But, intangible, electronic characters, such as Pac-Man and Q*bert just aren't that sentimental. &nbsp; So, the "throwback" scenes aren't nearly as funny or poignant as Woody's dealings with Mr. Potato Head, Ken or Barbie.

  3. Cannes Film Review: 'Seduced and Abandoned'

    Variety
Spirited, highly amusing and endearingly shambolic, James Toback's "Seduced and Abandoned" seeks to represent an "uncategorizable" work about film, money, Cannes and death, roughly in that order. In other words, it's basically a documentary that tracks...

    St. Joseph News-Press, Mo.
America said goodbye to "The Office" last night. But we'll get more into that next week, after I've had some time to let the finale and the retrospective marinate. This week's column is all about the shows that were forced to end. In case you hadn't...

  11. Review: "'The Office' Finale"

    Variety
SPOILER ALERT: If "The Office" finale is still waiting on your DVR, read no further. "There's a lot of beauty in ordinary things." That rather poetic observation came from Pam (Jenna Fischer) in what amounted to the parting thought delivered during "The...

  15. The Gold Standard: It's time for Emmy to surprise us

Backstage at the Emmys last year, reporters were squirming &mdash; and not just because of the ill-fitting rental tuxes and too-tight gowns. As "Modern Family" rolled to its third straight Emmy win for comedy series (after earlier pulling in prizes for supporting actor and actress and directing), the usual air of ennui seeped into the press room. <em>Bring us fresh faces! Bring us the excitement of the new! And, while you're at it, three more servings of that delicious chocolate mousse! </em>(There's a reason thoses tuxes pinch at the waistband.)

  17. The gestation of a sitcom, stretch marks and all

No wonder sitcom creators liken getting a series on the air to creating a child; months or years of development need to combine with patience, love and the willingness to modify and tweak a concept until it hurts. Here, we talk with some of TV's top sitcom (and one dramedy) heads about those first-show birthing pains and learn just what they were up to the night baby took its first steps on the airwaves.

  19. The Contenders: Tina Fey gets to let loose on the 'fun stuff' in '30 Rock's' final season

Tina Fey never had a master plan for the end of "30 Rock." She wasn't even sure if, this time last year, NBC Chairman Robert Greenblatt was about to pick up the phone, cancel the show and preempt a graceful exit for her decorated sitcom.
