Morikami Museum celebrates Japanese pop culture

Revelers clad as ninjas, cat-humanoids and warrior princesses filled the 36th annual Hatsume Fair. The Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens' largest event showcases anime and pop culture. It's become a cosplay confab of sorts. Short for costume play, cosplay is the art of dressing up as a character from a comic, movie or video game. Most mimic Japanese anime, manga and pop culture personalities. Amanda Joiner, 16, is a regular at South Florida anime shows.
