History Of Wangunk Indians

EAST HAMPTON — 'History of the Wangunk Indians' is the topic of the Chatham Historical Society's Cabin Fever Winter Talk, taking place at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 18, at the East Hampton Library, 105 Main St. Pictured is Bessie Palmer of the Wangunk tribe, circa 1916.

Gary O'Neil, a descendant of the Wangunks and family historian, will share the Wangunk story from 1767 until the 1950s. The Wangunks lived in central Connecticut with three major settlements in present-day Portland, Middletown, and Wethersfield.
