Nth Power Bringing Its Focus On Love To Arch Street For New Year's Show

You'd think that after five years of circling the globe with Beyoncé, then returning home to propel Ivan Neville's Dumpstaphunk in clubs and on festival stages (while also gigging with Ravi Coltrane and Chaka Khan), that powerhouse drummer Nikki Glaspie might be itching to start her own band.

She wasn't, it turns out, but she did, anyway: the Nth Power, a five-piece powerhouse that blends contemporary R&B with funk, gospel, improvisational jazz-rock and Southern soul, has been growing its fan base since 2012. Glaspie and company play Hartford's Arch Street Tavern on New Year's Day at 9:30 p.m., with West End Blend opening.
