10 ways to remember Wizarding World of Harry Potter

Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando

10-year-old Corrim Coffman of Cincinnati, Ohio, learns about magic wands from The Wand Keeper as his family looks on at Ollivander's wand shop, near Hogwarts Castle at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, at Universal's Islands of Adventure in Orlando, during a soft-opening preview for the attraction Wednesday, June 9, 2010. (JOE BURBANK, ORLANDO SENTINEL / June 8, 2010)

What you can't buy at Islands of Adventure: Clothing that reads "My grandma went to Wizarding World of Harry Potter and all I got was this lousy T-shirt."

Universal Orlando has gone more classy, less Stuckey's for its souvenir selection within the new attraction, and it's providing many options. More than 600 products were licensed for the theme park. Here are a few favorites to look for if you can get into the door of the Hogsmeade shops.

Pin drop

The Potter-based trading pins would be perfect grab-and-go items if it weren't for all that decision-making among the pin choices. There are all sorts of the trinkets saluting Harry, owls and the houses of Hogwarts, but also pins for minor players such as the Fat Lady and the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes. (Filch's Emporium, $8.95-$12.95)

Eats, some sweet

Bertie Bott's Any-Flavoured Beans avoid the "vomit" and "earwax" flavors, but they'll delight kids anyway. Chocolate Frogs also include trading cards featuring the four founders of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Note: The founders also are seen in moving portraits in the queue for the Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey ride. (Honeydukes, $9.95)

Gold? Mine

Toy replicas of the Golden Snitches used in Quidditch matches aren't something you will find in Spencer Gifts at the mall. (Zonko's, $14.95)

Magic words

T-shirts with the phrase "I solemnly swear that I am up to no good" reflect the phrase that is key to using the Marauder's Map. They're also seen on a stein. (Filch's, $26.95)

Do the wave

• There are 13 kinds of wands at Wizarding World, and they have the potential to be the must-get item. You'd don't have to wait for the Ollivanders show to purchase, but I'd recommend it whenever the line appears manageable. (Ollivanders/Owl Post, $28.95)

Give a hoot

Hedwig the Owl looks like a plush toy for your bedroom shelf, but it doubles as a puppet. Bonus: The head swivels. Second bonus: It squeals. (Multiple locations, $29.95)

Wrap it up

Very long — 7 feet or so — scarves are available for each Hogwarts house. They're so inappropriate for Floridians and yet so tempting. (Dervish & Banges, $34.95)

The way

Marauder's Map Is not as magical as in author J.K. Rowling's imagination, but it's a fold-out guide to Hogwarts that comes in a frame that opens for your inspection. (Filch's, $64.95)

All dressed up

Long, black, unforgiving nylon robes are another any-house-you-please item and for the hard-core Potterheads. (Dervish & Banges, $99.95)

Sweep stakes

The re-creations of broomsticks seen in the Potter films are more of an art piece than a souvenir. The store has them behind the counter and suspended in a cool way overheard. Must it be said? They don't really fly. (Dervish & Banges, $250-$300)
