HSO Presents A Program Of Contrasts

The Hartford Symphony Orchestra continued its 2014-2015 Masterworks Series in the Belding Theater, at the Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts, with a program of contrasts.

The evening began with a juxtaposition of the "Tragic Overture" by Brahms and the symphonic poem called "Tod und Verklärung" (Death and Transfiguration) by Richard Strauss.

The pairing was of interest. Strauss became a specialist in symphonic poems during the first phase of his long compositional career.
