Thumbs up: Despite playing host to the event, Liberty High School had never won the Carroll County Physics Olympics in the 23-year history of the event. Until last weekend. Students from multiple central Maryland schools gather at Liberty to test their engineering skills and physics know-how in six scored events. Until now, the grand prize has gone to students from one of the visiting schools. The overall winners receive a $1,000 check for their school. The winning team, one of several competing from Liberty, consisted of seniors Daniel Wheler, Kyle Burrows, Molly Gaskin, Nathan Koenigsmark, Blake Hipsley and Tim Hohenader.
