The Vibrant, Far-Out, Futuristic Art Of Karl Lund At NBMAA

For the artist Karl Lund, the future is yesterday. His dramatic canvasses, roiling with action and color, are built on a fertile foundation of boyhood fascinations with futurist science fiction, comic books and psychedelic posters, but they're also steeped in a wider appreciation of modern art history. "Angry Robots Liquefied My Brain," an exhibition of his newest work, has, like a space alien swarm, invaded the NEW/NOW gallery on the second floor of the New Britain Museum of American Art through May 31. Since most of Lund's work features robots (and a few giant squid) engaged in various malevolent acts, you might think his is a hostile takeover of the two-room space....
