German Currents: Festival of German Film opens Friday at Egyptian

German Currents: Festival of German Films kicks off its seventh edition Friday and continues through Oct.  7 at the American Cinematheque's Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood. Presented by the Goethe Institut Los Angeles and Cinematheque, the festival shines a spotlight on recent German features, documentaries, short films and family fare.  The U.S. premiere of Detlev Buck's 2012 epic "Measuring the World," about 19th century mathematician Carl Friedrich Gauss and scientist Alexander von Humboldt, opens the festival Friday evening.
