A Fort Lauderdale teacher, punched in the face Friday by an angry student whose attack injured her eye, says she looks forward to returning to the classroom.
"I love my students and my job," said Ruthanne Stadnik, 62, a sixth grade science teacher at Sunrise Middle School with 17 years of classroom experience. "This will not stop me."
Police arrested a 12-year-old boy Friday and charged him with battery after they say he punched Stadnik with a closed fist when she refused to let him bring a basketball into her classroom. The boy's mother could not be reached for comment.
