Candice Franklin struggled to sleep after coming face-to-face last week in a Cook County courtroom with the man she says raped, beat and left her for dead, the same man whom prosecutors say raped and killed four other women.
Her mind locked on that icy night in March 2010, replaying over and over again the last seconds before she lost consciousness.
She also remembers Michael A. Johnson Jr., his face a blank mask, telling her to shut up in a soft voice even though his fingers were wrapped so tightly around her throat she couldn't speak.
