Online poker whiz Chad Batista, 34, formerly of Coral Springs, dies

Online poker whiz Chad Batista, formerly of Coral Springs, died Thursday in Las Vegas after a brief period of declining health. He was 34. Mr. Batista, 5-foot-6, went by the online handle "lilholdem954." He was the No. 1-ranked online tournament player on PocketFives.com from August 2007 to July 2008. Mr. Batista earned $952,496 in live tournaments, $293,798 of which came at the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. He earned at least $5 million in online tournaments, although no formal records are kept.
