      The Hartford Marathon Foundation has a new event, the Run for Sandy Hook 5K, which will take place March 23 at Western Connecticut State University. All the proceeds from the race will go to the Sandy Hook School Support Fund, administered by the United Way of Western Connecticut. The race is currently looking for sponsors.

  21. WCSU Jazz Fest at the Ives Concert Hall in Danbury

    WCSU traditionally has a killer music department that produces some of the most well-trained musical talent in the area. This weekend, the school is hosting WCSU Jazz Fest at the Ives Concert Hall in White Hall on the University's downtown campus to show off their homegrown talent alongside some national stars. Thursday kicks things off with local saxophonist Jimmy Greene and his band. On Friday, it's Wallace Roney, who studied with Miles Davis, along with the WCSU Jazz Orchestra. Saturday, jazz guitar innovator John Scofield returns to the school, with drummer Bill Stewart and bassist Steve Swallow, a trio of truly world class players. <strong></strong>
