Jacob Hauser-Ramsey smiled through the flash of pain in his left shoulder.

"I dislocated it," the UConn sophomore defender said Wednesday inside the soccer office at Gampel Pavilion. "But I popped it back in. I'll be fine for Friday."

"He's a great kid," coach Ray Reid said. "He's a tough kid."

And why not? His father played tight end in the NFL for nine years. His mom is even tougher.

A continent away, Laurie Hauser-Treece walked out of radiation treatment Wednesday at the University of Washington Hospital in Seattle and walked into a telephone interview.
