UC Irvine Professor Resigns After Allegation Of Sexual Misconduct With Hotchkiss Student

A University of California, Irvine professor has resigned, a few weeks after the Hotchkiss School in Salisbury reported that a student from the 1970s accused him of sexual misconduct.

Ron Carlson, who was an English professor at UCI and the author of short stories that have appeared in The New Yorker, Esquire, The Atlantic Monthly and other journals, taught English at the prestigious boarding school from 1971 to 1981.

An independent investigation commissioned by Hotchkiss and released earlier this month substantiated allegations of sexual misconduct committed by Carlson and six other faculty and staff members between 1969 and 1992.
