The miniature replica of architect Louis Sullivan's intricate long-ago demolished Barbe House relief is 70 percent done, according to the whirring 3-D printer inside Kickstarter co-founder Charles Adler's new Center for the Lost Arts.
With less than $50,000, Adler has left behind the world of computer code and opened a pop-up workshop inside a former West Town meat wholesaler that's about to be torn down.
Adler invited 50 friends and friends of friends to work there and participate in its events for July. He sold access for $200 via Kickstarter, a campaign that raised more than $11,000.
He's paying $1 in rent.
