Race-based remedies still needed while 'ism' exists: Front Burner

Every once in a while someone engages me making the argument that affirmative action is a form of reverse discrimination and that everyone should be treated fairly. Affirmative-action policies, ideology, etc., that person says, should be colorblind. My counter argument hasn't changed. If any society needs legislation that suggests there is some discrimination based on racism or any other "ism," until that discrimination is eradicated or the society is cured of the "ism," then affirmative action is a start.
