Democratic Incumbent Marcia Leclerc, Republican Challenger Thomas Ogar Face Off In East Hartford Mayoral Race

EAST HARTFORD — As Election Day draws near, the race for the town's mayoral office is heating up between Democratic incumbent Marcia Leclerc and Republican challenger Thomas Ogar.

Leclerc, 56, was first appointed in January 2011 to replace Mayor Melody Currey, who took over as head of the state Department of Motor Vehicles in Gov. Dannel P. Malloy's administration. Leclerc ran for election in November 2011 and, in 2013, won over Republican challenger Jack Jacobs, the Republican town chairman.
