  • KHS field hockey focuses on fundamentals, hard work

    Killingly High School field hockey coach Souki Syharat had his players gather round him on the practice field on Aug. 27. It was the team's fourth practice and Syharat was concentrating on fundamentals. He beckoned Teegan Waggoner forward to help him demonstrate what he wanted them to do on defense. Waggoner came at him dribbling the ball. Syharat kept poking his stick at the ball. "Be a pest," he said. "Keep your stick down on the ground. If you can't get the ball, pester them, pester them."
