    While Connecticut ranks as the 48th-largest state in the country by size, it's proving to be one of the better states at producing professional baseball talent. Of the nearly 1,200 players to play in the major leagues so far this season, 14 were born in Connecticut, which is tied for 19th among states. Connecticut ranks higher than Puerto Rico and all but four foreign countries — the Dominican Republic, Cuba, Venezuela and Canada. Additionally, another three players who played college baseball in Connecticut and another one who played high school baseball in the state have played in the major leagues in 2014.
