'Doc' Hurley Book Launch At Hartford Library Moved To Feb. 18

Walter "Doc" Hurley, who died in 2014 at age 91, was indeed a legend in Hartford. A star athlete at Weaver High School, he became a Marine and attended Virginia State University and went on to become an educator, administrator and sports coach in Hartford, where he also mentored and aided countless students to pursue college degrees and founded a scholarship program. On Wednesday, Feb. 18, at 5:30 p.m. at Hartford Public Library's Hartford History Center, 500 Main St., an autobiographical book based on more than 40 interviews with Hurley will be launched at a free event.
