  19. MVC Baseball Tournament: Day One

Game one is in the books with Indiana State upsetting Illinois St. 5-2. Shortly afterwards the rains came and it doesn’t look like Wichita St. will start their game with Evansville until 3:00pm or so. Last year in Wichita we had four hours of rain delay for the entire tournament, looking at the forecast—I’d take that total right now.

  23. Championship day at the Valley Tournament

Of course the Shockers are in the finals of the MVC Baseball Tournament.  It’s only the twenty-fifth time in thirty-four years…but who’s counting?  Wichita State mauled Indiana State with seven runs in the first inning yesterday and rolled behind Zach Berringer and Albert Minnis.  Those are two of the arms of the future for the Shocks and it was great to see them deliver with authority.  Talking with Chris O’Brien after the game, I asked him whether he thinks at all about his hitting streak---he claimed he doesn’t even know how long it is.  That would be 28 after three more yesterday, two from the left side one from the right, the guy is just a hitting machine.
