  1. China's Jialing JH600 dual sport is not quite ready for the U.S.A.

Riding 1,700 miles in eight days isn't anything I'd normally brag about. But I was riding a Chinese motorcycle. In China. Over pavement and gravel. Across the Tianshan mountains and the Taklamakan desert. From elevations of 13,400 feet to sea level. In temperatures from freezing to 100-plus degrees. So forgive me if I seem a little self-congratulatory for trekking the Chinese wilds on a Jialing JH600 dual sport.

  3. Honda CRF230L dual sport has yet a third purpose

If you close your eyes, listen closely and click the heels of your off-road boots three times, you just might hear a ringing sound.
    Los Angeles Times Staff Writer
If you close your eyes, listen closely and click the heels of your off-road boots three times, you just might hear a ringing sound. Is it tinnitus? Probably. But I like to think it's cash registers as they rack up sales for dual sports. Bikes that can...

  5. Bumpy road ahead for industry?

Consumer prices are up. The stock market is down. The dollar has plummeted. And credit is tightening. So what does that mean for motorcycles -- not only future sales, but also new model development, pricing and financing? Well, it appears the bad news has some good mixed in.

  7. '08 Accord: Honda bets big

"Aggressive" isn't an adjective many people would apply to the Honda Accord, a vehicle aimed squarely at the middle of the American market.

  9. U.S. auto sales continue to drag despite lower gas prices

Falling gasoline prices didn't help automakers in August as economic worries and an overabundance of trucks rather than compact cars continued to drag down U.S. sales results.

  13. Ford to delay new F-Series pickups, citing the rising cost of gasoline

Henry Ford II was famous for saying "Big cars, big profits. Small cars, small profits."
    Los Angeles Times Staff Writer
Henry Ford II was famous for saying "Big cars, big profits. Small cars, small profits." Now a better mantra for the country's second-largest carmaker might be "Big cars, no profits." Faced with crashing sales of big sport utility vehicles and...

  18. Tax credit's time has yet to come

    Times Staff Writer
The Internal Revenue Service said this week that Honda's FCX qualified for a $12,000 federal tax credit. That would be good news for the owners of the hydrogen-powered car — if there were any. Only two of the futuristic fuel-cell vehicles are in...
