  7. Kevin Hunt: Resort Drops Hotwire After Wallingford Woman's Hidden-Cost Complaint

The standard for hidden costs must have changed. Shouldn't a business at least make an effort to hide its hidden costs in the tiniest fine print instead of not disclosing them, anywhere, to the consumer.

  15. Senior Travel: Where budget hotels aren't very 'budget'

Move over, New York; we have a new champion for high hotel prices -- Boston, which the online hotel agency Cheaphotels (www.cheaphotels.org) discovered has the country's highest average nightly rates for budget hotels. The new Budget Hotel report (http://www.cheaphotels.org/press/bhr-spring-2012.html) compiled by CheapHotels.org revealed that travelers had to shell out an average of $194 a night for a two-star or better hotel. Boston beat longtime rival New York by a comfortable margin of $22 a night -- no need for instant replay. At the other end of the scale, the best cities for budget hotel prices were Orlando, at $33 a night, and Las Vegas, at $36. Of course, in both of these, the locals have other very efficient ways to separate you from your money.
