Gov. Daniels, Pres. Obama order flags at half-staff in response to Connecticut shooting

Flags in Indiana should fly at half-staff.

That’s the directive from Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels in the wake of a deadly mass shooting at an elementary school in Connecticut. Twenty six people, including 20 children, died after a gunman opened fire at Sandy Hook Elementary School on Newtown, Conn.

The policy is in accordance with a directive from President Barack Obama, who asked flags to be lowered across the country in respect to those killed.

The president’s order asks that the flag be flown at half-staff “at the White House and upon all public buildings and grounds, at all military posts and naval stations, and on all naval vessels of the Federal Government in the District of Columbia and throughout the United States and its Territories and possessions until sunset, December 18, 2012.”
