    Centrowitz part of world record in distance medley relay
    Americans Matt Centrowitz (Broadneck), Mike Berry, Erik Sowinski and Pat Casey broke the world record in the distance medley relay (legs of 1,200, 400, 800 and 1,600 meters) at the Armory Track Invitational on Saturday in New York, clocking 9 minutes, 19.93 seconds — more than six seconds faster than the previous mark, 9:25.97 set by the University of Texas in 2008. Ireland also ran under the world record, finishing in 9:25.37. Centrowitz ran his opening 1,200 leg in 2:49.47, giving his team a 2.58-second lead.
