Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy in Wirtz will start an hour late today because of a power outage. According to Appalachian Power 1,754 of its customers do not have electrical service right now in Franklin County.

Appalachian Power wants approval for a $100 million upgrade to its infrastructure in Wythe County.

Appalachian Power is interested in upgrading its services in Wythe County, and they're looking for your input.
It's a $100 million upgrade that will run power lines from its Wythe and Progress Park substations to the Jacksons Ferry substation.

Because of a faulty gage, Appalachian Power was releasing too much water from Smith Mountain Lake.
