Thousands of people are without power after Thursday's storms.
According to the Appalachian Power website, as of 5:35 p.m., here are some of the latest outage numbers:
-In Roanoke County, more than 17,000 customers do not have electricity.

Power is slowly being restored after Thursday's severe thunderstorms. Here's a roundup as of approximately 5:00 p.m. on Friday:

A downed power line is causing traffic headaches in downtown Roanoke.
The downed line is at Williamson Road and Fleming Avenue.
A stretch of six to eight blocks along that road is without power. Traffic lights are not working in that area either....

Power has been restored to Appalachian Power customers in Montgomery County.
Around 2,500 customers were without power after an electric substation went down in the Price's Fork area around 11:15 a.m. Thursday.

Power crews from as far away as Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and California will be in our area starting Monday morning to help restore power if they're needed. Some crews may even come from Mexico! If things don’t get too bad, they'll head north....

As of 10 a.m. Wednesday, Appalachian Power outages in the WDBJ7 viewing area are down to 377.
