The Natural Bridge has launched a new family-friendly outdoor activities program, “Days of Summer Wonder,” that includes a James River tubing package, guided birding walk and regularly scheduled guided nature walks.
- The guided walks at this Virginia Birding and Wildlife Trail site are free with admission or annual pass and take visitors beyond The Natural Bridge on the Cedar Creek Nature Trail. On Saturdays and Sundays, through Labor Day, at 9 a.m. a guide will lead a nature walk.
- From June 15 through Labor Day there’s an option to add tubing on the James River to the Natural Bridge Escape package; the Great Outdoors package starts at $119 (plus tax) for two guests, and includes one night in the historic Natural Bridge Hotel, country breakfast, tubing and Natural Bridge & Caverns combination tickets.
- In addition to the guided nature walks at 9 a.m on Saturdays and Sundays, there is a July 4th event. At noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. beneath the Bridge, a Colonial host will do a public reading of the Declaration of Independence as done in the 18th century to get news circulating, and a brief talk about Thomas Jefferson (he purchased the Bridge on July 5, 1774 from King George III). Guests will also be given a copy of the Declaration.
- Other events are wine tastings on Saturdays at 4:30-5:30. And you can see other regularly scheduled Dining events on this page: http://www.naturalbridgeva.com/dining.php.
